How are computer-based training courses being used?
CBT courses can augment, supplement or replace instructor-led training by enabling you and your organization to:

Familiarize a broad spectrum of staff and professional with a specific area of information.
Provide a base level of knowledge in advance of instructor-led training.
Provide an on-the-job tool for as-needed reference and review.

What are the advantages of computer-based training?
Computer-based training offers flexibility, convenience, and higher retention rate. Because learners control where and when they take the course as well as which topics they want to cover, computer-based training enables a larger number of geographically dispersed people to be trained simultaneously and at a much lower cost.

In what way are the courses "interactive"?
eTS' programs are distinguished by the high level of meaningful interaction found in each course we develop. The type of interaction varies, depending upon whether the course goal is skills transfer or knowledge transfer.

Skills-transfer courses provide you with the skills to effectively use a specific development tool, operating system, or software product. For example, you can learn how to configure Windows NT, program in C++, or build an application using Visual Basic.

Each skills-transfer program will use a simulated environment, with overlays of training text, notes and tips. You experience the actual look and feel of the tool or product you're learning. And because you're learning in a simulated environment, you don't have to worry about getting lost or modifying actual data or configurations.

Knowledge-transfer courses provide you with a conceptual framework and a working knowledge of a technology. For example, you can learn how to install machinery, configure a LAN and WAN, or learn new applications or software.

In a knowledge-transfer course, you will be assigned a job in a "virtual company". As in real life, you'll be put to work immediately and given a specific list of tasks to complete. For example, you may be asked to choose the topology and wiring media for a new LAN.

You may also have a "virtual mentor" to guide you and to introduce you to the technical experts who will tutor you. These experts will explain key concepts and act as "on-screen consultants" as you perform each task on your list. Engaging in the practical application of concepts keeps you involved, increases your comprehension, and provides real-world experience.
